Theodor-Heuss-Haus

Remodelling of the residence of Germany’s first post-war president into an interactive museum for political sciences and history

The former residence of Theodor Heuss, Germany’s first post-war president, was remodelled to accommodate a learning center for Germany’s 20th century history and the political development after World War II. Together with specialist consultants the architects developed the exhibit and interactive learning elements such as film consoles and political questionnaires. A didactic route through the building was elaborated and incorporated into the architecture. The Learning Center is part of the education programme for schools in and around Stuttgart. It encourages visitors of all ages to come and learn about our recent history.
